Dear Santa

2 12 2007

Dear Santa,

I have been a good boy this year (or at least I am being one right now). Here are some things I would like which you could leave behind as presents for Finn.

Big Thomas Toby
Big Thomas Gordon
Big Thomas Spencer
Shed that the engines live in
Little engine crossing bridge

I hope you and reindeer are not to cold and that you gets lots of Space Robots Lego for Christmas.

Best wishes

Finn

Books of the Moment

29 04 2007

Finn and Mark are enjoying;

I’m a Big Brother by Ronie Randall and Kristina Stephenson. We have to change Luke to Finn and Baby to Leila and then we’re going great guns.

Dougal the Garbage Dump Bear by Matt Dray. Not only it is Australian and clever but Finn laughs like a madman when Bumble says “bee”.

Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy by Lynn Dodd. We just have to get past Muffin McLay being like a Bundle of Bungalows (it’s meant to be bundle of hay).

The Negotiator

28 04 2007

“I want a chocolate egg.”

“The chocolate eggs are all finished.”

“Do we have any chocolate?”

“No, there’s no chocolate.” (A white lie. There’s no chocolate for him.)

“Do we have any lollies?”

“Yes, but you can’t have any.” (No point in lying. He knows where the lollies are.)

“I want some lollies.”

“No, you’re not having any lollies.”

“Do we have any biscuits?”

“Yes.”

“I want a biscuit.”

“What do you say?”

“Pleeease!”

“Ok. Let’s go and get a biscuit.”

“YAY!! I can have a biscuit!” As he dances into the kitchen.

And chooses the sugariest biscuit in the container.

The Sophisticate

9 10 2006

Today Finn had his very first babychino which is actually just a cup of milk froth. Normally I would never buy him such a thing but the kind lady gave us one with Nicky’s tea.

He was doing pretty well on the froth but when it came to the milk he drank it all at once and prompty spat it out all over himself.

It did spoil the sophistication of the moment some.

Will Eat For Cream

Will Eat For Cream

I am doing Finn no disservice when I say he is not big on eating fruit. Sometimes we will share an apple or banana after dinner and he will join in but mostly not.

But the other night Nicky threw some cream into the mix and it was a whole different game. I think the slices of banana were mainly a way of getting cream in his mouth but the point is he did eat quite a few of them.

The Banana Incident

16 08 2005

Last time something this big happened a star rose in the east. Last night Finn wolfed down his dinner which happens but not a whole lot. So I chopped up a nice fresh banana and cut it up for us all to share. Not because bananas are such as scarce resource but so he would see everyone was eating it.

Anyhow he just took a piece and stuffed it in his mouth. Then another. Then two at a time. He probably ate half of the banana in the space of two minutes.

Up to this point he has regarded bits of fruit as highly suspect and probably poisoned. If they were all mashed up and warm they had a chance of being eaten but other than that no chance at all until now.

Needless to say we are pretty excited by this sudden interest in fruit.

Boy and Biscuit Vs. The Puppy

15 08 2005

We have a collection of wheat biscuits for Foozley to munch on for snacks. I had some doubts that he would go for them since they are pretty bland but he is very fond of them.

This morning, since it is raining and miserable outside, puppies have been inside but have left Finn alone. That was up until the second I saw said biscuit in the mouth of a puppy on one end and being gripped by a toddler at the other.

Sadly the puppy won but now she is cooling down outside for her sins. Finn charged into the kitchen, a little distressed, but was consoled by a replacement biscuit.

PS. Just as I was about to post this he charged up to Indiana and gave her his biscuit which she gingerly accepted and ate.

The Breakfast Club

4 07 2005

Two Of Us Making Breakfast

Now that the morning are quite cold Finn has porridge for breakfast along with his Mum. They make it together which goes surprisingly well.

Have Breakfast Will Travel

1 04 2005

Finn is now feeding himself breakfast most morning although when there is lots going on he sometimes gets all caught up in phaffing rather than eating.

This was one such morning.

When I have a shower he generally comes in and out of the bathroom just to make sure everything is ok. This morning he came back at some point with his breakfast bowl and sat down and finished his breakfast just outside the bathroom door. It was pretty damn cute.

The Self Feeding Foozle

26 03 2005

Finn has been working up to feeding himself for a while now and has been quite good with handheld things like toast. Last night was the first time he gave himself his whole meal with a spoon which is pretty clever.
