Easy Rider

8 03 2007

When we arrived at childcare there we was confidently peddling himself around the yard on a trike. The feet were confident and steady and he was steering without any particular concentration.

We knew he kind of had the idea of peddling but we just had no idea what Finn was full-on riding.

And now we do. He’s very clever.

Finn’s Podcast

5 03 2007

Sometimes Finn likes to sit with me and the computer and listen to my podcast. I don’t know that he much cares about the podcast but he really likes using the computer for anything.

This morning I was running a bit late for school so I suggested that he listen to them with Nicky. Just as I was leaving she told me that Finn was insistent that he would do his own podcast. I don’t doubt that one day he will but perhaps it will be sooner rather than later.

This is six months old now but people might still be interested.

Thomas On Top

25 06 2006

Finn’s favourite things, above all others, are his Thomas trains and Thomas stories. He is not completely one-eyed however and will sometimes want a Dr Suess story for a few minutes between Thomas books.

Wobot

12 06 2006

Finn started putting a large envelope that I’d received some yarn in over his head and saying he was a ‘wobot’. I figured that a ‘wobot’ should be able to see where he was going and get his arms out so I cut some holes in it. It worked quite well.

Wobot

It didn’t last long, but both dogs got to be ‘wobots’ too briefly before it was torn too badly for further use.

First Proper Drawing

Finn has enjoyed drawing for a while now but util now it has been really scribbling more than drawing. This morning I drew a rocket and robot for him (A Big Day Out was very popular with him) and then he told me he was going to draw the sun.

So he stood up tall to reach up high and drew the sun you can see in the picture.

I was very impressed but he just looked like he draws things all the time. He also did the eyes on the robot incidentally.

Finn The Builder

26 03 2006

Hello, Chooks?

Finn has been all super useful in working with us to build the chook-house this weekend. While the power-drill is still a big out of his league he has done this at that all through the two days. I am sure the chook will appreciate all our work when they arrive to such a nice new home.

No Bear Left Behind

9 03 2006

I found Finn staging a breakout of his cot with his entire bear population of about eight coming along. He had moved them all up to the top of the box and the end was was trying to climb up there himself in order to climb down the shelves.

However there wasn’t room for him to scramble up with all those bears up there. What was noble was that he clearly wasn’t going to break out without all of them coming with him.

Perhaps some of the toodler speak I could hear was the following.

“come on blanky, grab my hand, you can do it. No, I’m not leaving you behind, we’re all going to make it to the lounge room together”

Friends’ Voices

1 03 2006

Finn loves playing with the cordless phones but happily never manages to connect a call. This morning he charged up to me and held out the phone.

“Joanna” he said.

So I listened.

And it was a recorded voice saying the number could not be reached and I guess it did sound a little like Joanna.

Once he realises he can talk to his friends and admirers he’ll never hand it over.

Hanging Around

Hanging Around

I am sure we look back fondly on the days when Finn didn’t hang from things into mid-air (of increasing quantities)
