Finn seemed to have a lovely time on the farm especially helping me with the tent for Leila to sleep in and also playing on the backhoe. On the way home, after his sleep, I asked if he’d like to live on a farm.
At this he got terribly upset and indignant and he insisted that he wants to live in Point Cook.
It’s nice to know he’s so attached to home.
Dear Finn,
I am sitting at work and wearing my dragon t-shirt which is just like yours so it makes me think of you. I worry sometimes that perhaps most of what you hear from me is bossy or telling you not to do things so I wanted to stop and tell you what a lovely kid you are.
This morning I had to wake you up for childcare and it was really something to hear that the first sound you made was a giggle (although it is quite likely that I had tickled you). As you lay out on Leila’s floor while I changed her you looked like the most content and happy kid in the world and that’s a terrific thing for a Dad to see.
I hope your day at childcare is going well especially since it is one of your last. Next year you will be a kinder kid which just seems amazing. When we first worked out that you would be going to school in 2009 that just seemed like a nonsense year, like something made up. All the same in no time in real life you’ll be a school kid.
I’m sure you’ll make a very clever and lovely school kid especially if they change the curriculum to include Space Robots. It is possible that other people know more about Space Robots but I’d me amazed if any have your enthusiasm.
Anyhow it’s time for me to have some lunch. I hope you eat your lunch today (since you often don’t).

On anyone else I would think this silly and a bit much, but on my boys it’s terribly cute and sweet. I suppose it’s all a matter of perspective.
