From this photo it might look like Finn makes a habit of this but he doesn’t. Which is not to say that he isn’t quite accomplished at lounging around, he just normally flops all over his kid sized chair instead.
Finn and Mark are enjoying;
I’m a Big Brother by Ronie Randall and Kristina Stephenson. We have to change Luke to Finn and Baby to Leila and then we’re going great guns.
Dougal the Garbage Dump Bear by Matt Dray. Not only it is Australian and clever but Finn laughs like a madman when Bumble says “bee”.
Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy by Lynn Dodd. We just have to get past Muffin McLay being like a Bundle of Bungalows (it’s meant to be bundle of hay).
“I want a chocolate egg.”
“The chocolate eggs are all finished.”
“Do we have any chocolate?”
“No, there’s no chocolate.” (A white lie. There’s no chocolate for him.)
“Do we have any lollies?”
“Yes, but you can’t have any.” (No point in lying. He knows where the lollies are.)
“I want some lollies.”
“No, you’re not having any lollies.”
“Do we have any biscuits?”
“Yes.”
“I want a biscuit.”
“What do you say?”
“Pleeease!”
“Ok. Let’s go and get a biscuit.”
“YAY!! I can have a biscuit!” As he dances into the kitchen.
And chooses the sugariest biscuit in the container.
It started amusingly enough with Finn telling is one morning that Jeff had slept in his room on the plastic crate with a spare blanket over him. The next night it seems Jeff visited again and this seemed ok.
The morning after the following night Finn told us that Jeff didn’t seem in his room and this seemed ok as well.
But tonight Finn is quite beside himself with concern that Jeff will come into his room to sleep. So I called the Wiggle house and spoke to Anthony (who assured me that Jeff would stay in the Wiggle house). We put all the spare blankets out of Finn’s room so Jeff would not be tempted to sleep there and Nicky instructed the dogs to keep a lookout for Jeff.
Still Finn is quite upset and Nicky is in there with him at the moment calming him down.
Bloody Jeff.

For a few weeks now Finn has been telling us stories about how big kids get angry with him at childcare or are mean to him. He doesn’t seem overly impressed with this but he doesn’t seem scared or battered in any fashion either.
All the same we tell him to tell a grown up and he happily repeats that back to us.
While he has been really good since Leila arrives he has also been a bit more prone to chucking tantrums than before. In the last week it seems he has been doing this at childcare and well and been a bit rough with the other kids.
As you would expect we are making it clear to him that there are no good reasons for clobbering other kids. I am not sure he fully agrees with us but we’ll get there I am sure.
It seems every time I turn around Finn is that bit more grown up.
Finn has been quite naughty recently. Nothing too bad but a lot of touching things he knows he shouldn’t and refusing the eat. We figure at least part of this is that he is used to having a lot of my time and recently has to compete with Leila, Nicky, school and school work.
So I decided to have some special Finn and Mark time each week where we would just do something together. We do a pretty good job of this normally but I especially wanted to do something before I went back to school.
I asked Finn what it was that he wanted. He wanted to go to the Nursery Rhymes. Fair enough, they sound like good fun. But we couldn’t work out what he actually meant. It was something to do with a train. We should go with Danny and his Mum. It was near the plaza, the little shops and Matt the chiropractor. In other words it could be anywhere and anything.
Finally Nicky worked it out. Finn wanted to go to the Royal Melbourne Show. It took some explaining that it wasn’t open and wouldn’t be for a long time. In the end he was happy to go exploring with be on his trike up and down the creek. We sat on seats, threw sticks in the creek and collected a rock.
It was just as good as the Nursery Rhymes.
Finn was pretty good natured about his haircut today. This was just as well since he was promised a new little Thomas toy as a reward.
We think he looks just lovely.
Last night we had our first ever Easter Egg hunt which was a lot of fun. Finn had been campaigning all day for a chocolate egg so he immediately saw the value in this.
Nicky had hidden twenty eggs in the lounge room. Some were in with Thomas, some in with Leila in her inflatable doughnut, some were in Finn’s sandals and so forth.
What was especially sweet was that once Finn has found two he decided to get down to the serious business of eating them. So he sat up at the table with his eggs and got down to it. It was only with much encouragement and us making a lot of fuss about the other eggs we were finding that he got back into the hunt,
In the end he collected a good stash and got to eat about half of it last night.
