The Cubby

30 09 2006

Yesterday we put the finishing touches on Finn’s cubby. He helped all along the way with shopping, building and painting. It’s painted up to look like one of the shacks down on the beach near here and it’s lovely and light inside.

Of course we took a few photos along the way.

Inclusion

I asked Finn if we were all going to go mental while he was stuck at home.

“Mum, you want to come to mental?”

I don’t think she’ll have a whole lot of choice.

Spot

29 09 2006

Finn is home from childcare with suspected Chicken Pox. He was fine this morning but now he sure is spotty.

We are off to the doctor this afternoon and hopefully he’ll get through this all pretty well.

Show Offs

26 09 2006

Finn and Danny had a lovely time at the show today. They patted animals, disagreed about who was driving farm machinery, and went on three rides together.

There are a few photos if peole are interested.

Finn’s Baby

20 09 2006

Finn is suddenly very interested in “his baby”. Last week he thought it was off at childcare but now he knows it is in Mum’s tummy. He has even spoken to the baby and asked it to come out.

We have explained that the baby can’t come for a while yet. It might be a long six months.

Ears On

16 09 2006

Finn has been pretty good with his hearing aids for ages now. Unless you count that time that he pulled them completely to pieces and buried them in the sandpit at childcare recently.

The real obstancle to him wearing them every waking hour has been the slackness of his Dad. When it’s just us at home he hears pretty well in such a quiet environment so I often don’t bother putting them in on some days.

However just recently he’s had a blocked ear and has been really quite deaf without his aids. So I have been putting them in for every second he is awake and not in the bath. And he’s be wonderful with them, no fussing at all. And more importantly his speech is just improving every single day.

First Step Into A Larger World

16 09 2006

Finn was up early this morning so we played some LEGO Star Wars together on the PlayStation. Finn tried to play but ended up commenting and asking questions.

He quicky learned about Princess Leia (boy), R2D2 (D2) and 3CPO (CeePee). After a while he got bored with it which is fair enough but it is his first real introduction to Star Wars which is pretty exciting for his Dad.

Toilet Interest

Since moving into the big room Finn sees other kids using the toilet. And, as you might expect, today he insisted that he be allowed to use the toilet too.

Finn is fine to do pretty much anything provided it is what he is good and ready to do.

If It Looks Like a Cheese Robot

7 09 2006

Finn has been watching an episode of Spongebob Squarepants which he calls Cheese Robot.

Which is fair enough.

Honking Kid

2 09 2006

Last night Finn woke up and came to visit in the early hours all upset and honking. Once he calmed down it we realised he was having trouble breathing so we dragged his puffer from the medicine cabinet and pressed it back into service.

After a couple of tries with this, two stories and a new nappy he was feeling better and went back to sleep in his own bed.

This morning he is still honking a little so we’re off to the doctor just for some peace of mind.
