Free At Last

Today we took away a bit from the side of Finn’s cot so that he can easily climb in and out. He has been doing this is a more death-defying fashion more and more so we figured it is about time be moved towards a big boy’s bed.

And while Finn thinks this is all great fun he also thinks it means he doesn’t have a midday nap. He’s wrong, or maybe we’re wrong. I guess from here on in we’re going to find out one way or another.

Well He Would Be Sleepy

25 05 2006

Finn woke up all unhappy at about three and wanted cuddles. He probably did want them but he also knows this is a way to get out of bed legitimately. So his Dad climbed into his bed for a little while but, like the fish in the story, was just too big.

So they moved to the chair and then the spare bed. At each stage Finn was sleepy but not asleep and not still either.

Around 6 he actually stopped moving and went properly to sleep.

First Name Terms

20 05 2006

Finn has taken to calling us by our first names now and then which he thinks is a great joke.

“Where’s Nicky?”
“Hello Mark”

On the name front we also begin reading books with “Finn O’Mawa” since some of his books have a “this book belongs to” page.

Cousins’ Club

Last night we went over to Jimmy and Abby’s for an impromptu Cousins’ Club where they all had a great time and even scored a school bus each from Aunty Rad (freshly back from America).

Bus!

Little Finn Lost

Early Riser

9 05 2006

Finn woke up at about five this morning and let us know that “Finn’s crying”. We tried to get him to sleep in our bed (to no avail) and then in his bed again (with even less luck).

He is now playing with his trains on the loungeroom floor. At least he is happy now.

I Saw Him Standing There

7 05 2006

Finn has been getting better at climbing up into his cot so it made sense that it was only a matter of time until the turned these skills to getting out.

For a while he has been able to climb out onto the end of his bed but unable to get down from there.

Tonight was different. We were sitting in the dining room and there he was, all out of bed, and just standing there regarding us. We put him back in bed and two minutes later he was there again.

It seems he is feeling confident about just climbing over the rail.

And life will never be the same again.

Finn &Trebor

Trevor is a Thomas character who came home with me today. He’s a very popular addition to the train set for a small boy who can’t say ‘v’.
