All Ears

31 03 2006

Since the recent reintroduction of bits of double sided tape on Finn hearing aids he has been very much improved in terms of keeping them in. It helps when they don’t flap about the place.

It also helps when your parents both to put your hearing aids in.

Kiss The Girl

And Make Them Cry

Finn normally has to be convinced to kiss people but after posing for some photos and playing with the soccer ball with Sarah he was all eager. Perhaps too eager by the look of the photo.

Where’s Everyone?

27 03 2006

Finn will often ask us about people who have been around or we’ve been visiting. Last week after we went to Nicky’s parents it was all “Where’s Grandma?”, “Where’s Rhonda?” and “Where’s Grandad?”.

The first ten times I told them they were at their house and then I told him that they went to the moon. This amused Finn greatly and he then told us “Grandma gone moon”, “Rhonda gone moon” and so on.

A little more frustratingly he will ask where’s Mum and Dad when we are there. Not just once but again and again. It wasn’t until Nicky pointed it out that I realised this is probably just him using a good conversation starter than we have used with him many many times.

He’s probably at childcare now saying “Where’s Frances?”.

To Frances.

Finn The Builder

26 03 2006

Hello, Chooks?

Finn has been all super useful in working with us to build the chook-house this weekend. While the power-drill is still a big out of his league he has done this at that all through the two days. I am sure the chook will appreciate all our work when they arrive to such a nice new home.

Having Grandy Visit

Finn And Grandy

Today Finn Grandy came to visit and he was all excited and silly about it all which is a good thing really.

She also brought him a present which was a little soccer set. Being his father’s son he immediately understood how it worked.

Hiding Out

He Aint Heavy (actually he is)

17 03 2006

Normally I carry Finn so that he is upright and his shoulders are at much the same height as mine. Sometimes however I will carry him lying down with an arm under his legs and another under his shoulders.

When I do this he often gives me a meaningful look as says “like baby”.

Scary Robots

9 03 2006

Finn came home wanting to watch Grommit which might be because he say the movie on in JB the other day. Anyhow we put it on a few minutes ago while Nicky made dinner and started with The Big Day Out.

Anyhow we had to stop it because Finn was terribly upset and frightened by the robot on the moon. So we changed it over to The Wrong Trousers and of course he was then worried about the new robot, the trousers. But Nicky sat with him and he has pretty happily watched it through to the end.

No Bear Left Behind

9 03 2006

I found Finn staging a breakout of his cot with his entire bear population of about eight coming along. He had moved them all up to the top of the box and the end was was trying to climb up there himself in order to climb down the shelves.

However there wasn’t room for him to scramble up with all those bears up there. What was noble was that he clearly wasn’t going to break out without all of them coming with him.

Perhaps some of the toodler speak I could hear was the following.

“come on blanky, grab my hand, you can do it. No, I’m not leaving you behind, we’re all going to make it to the lounge room together”

Be Happy

8 03 2006

This morning we found a boy in bed with no nappy and a conspicious wet patch on the sheet. All of this was fine of course which Finn clearly understood since as he headed to sit on the toilet he told us “don’t worry”.
