Finn Henry

From the Sunday Herald Sun today.

Now Finn is very useful around the garden especially if you need water poured on something. However when it came to a walk in the park it seemed that perhaps his little legs were painted on. We couldn’t get five metres without the arms going out and a plantive little voice saying “up?”

Now no-one wants to embarrass a future Foozle so we’ll just say that yesterday he managed something that’s a big step for a two-year-old.

Yesterday we all took a trip to Scienceworks to keep Foozley busy since it was too wet and horrible to do anything outdoors. As it turned out it was just great for Finn. He might not have understood much but there was heaps for him to run around and look, heaps to press his face against, and heaps to have his paws all over.

I am pretty sure I speak for Finn when I say it’s a top spot for a two year old.

We figure that Finn must know he is now two because is having a real leap forward in terms of cleverness. Especially in terms of interacting with people. Questions are met with real yes and no answers and he can do complicated tasks and interactions every day.

Despite his dramas Finn’s party yesterday went ahead will almost full numbers. He slept through the first hour but then had a lovely time with family members and new presents. He barked like a seal all the while but was really enjoying himself which was just terrific to see.

When it came time to blow out the candle on Tom, Finn needed a little help but didn’t mind one little bit.

During the afternoon on his birthday Finn started to cough which wasn’t much good so we gave him some panadol before bed just to help with a good night’s sleep. Sadly things were not going to go that way.

He woke at about eleven thirty wheezing on each and every breath. He was quite distressed but once we were able to calm him down his breathing improved but was still quite wheezy. We tried getting him to sleep between us but this was just too good an opportunity for a party.

Finally, when we were all just mental from fatigue and his breathing was pretty good he went back to bed and we kept a super close ear on him while he slept for a few hours.

This morning we went to one of those massive clinics to get him looked at as our regular doctor is not open on Sundays. Of course we waited for an hour and a half while Finn ran around like the two-year-old he now is. He was getting pretty ratty when the doctor finally saw us and said he thought Finn had a asthma attack along with a virus that was giving him a slight temperature.

So then a helpful nurse gave Finn some ventalin through a mask (which he hated) but it did help.

So now he is sleeping which is good. He will still be having his family afternoon tea as planned this afternoon just short one cousin who has just come out of having a virus which is fair enough.

Today Finn is two years old which is very exciting all around. He started with a trip to the letter box and opened his cards and parcels from afar.

Then he opened this presents from us. His immediate favourite out of what we gave him are a Humpty Dumpty, a Thomas plate cup and bowl, a little toy Thomas, and most of all of watering can of his own.

He has a party this afternoon for his Pelletier family and another one tomorrow for his O’Meara family so there will be more presents and, hopefully, more pictures.

The mailbox was full of things for Finn today. Things from my family, things from Nicky’s and parcel from far far away. Exciting as it we will show them to young Foozley tomorrow and he can tear them open then.

Last night his friend Ros from his hearing service brought him a card and he just looked so excited so hopefully tomorrow with just be a whole bucket of that.

Finn’s new favourite things is Thomas the Tank Engine but obviously there are pretty close since Finn just calls him Tom.

He only has one Thomas book but will often present it to be said and say “Tom” in a very insistent tone. And when Thomas comes on the telly he will say it again and hold his book just to have it while Tom is on the telly.
