It’s A Laugh

29 04 2005

Finn has had his jokes for a while but they were mainly just things that make him feel a bit clever rather than anything else. He has been laughing out loud for ages but mostly in reponse to tickling. Sometimes he would just laugh like a crazy person when a cat or dog would walk by but we still don’t know what that was about.

Last week I was editing part of his 18 month video and he was sitting on my lap. On of the bits of footage was him playing in a box and then tipping himself out of a box. In the footage he is quite indignant and there are no laughs in it. However when he watched it on the screen he was just laughing and laughing. And each time he would start to giggle in anticipation of the fall.

Last night he was playing make believe tea parties with Ros from his hearing service and he just laughed and laughed when teddy stuck his nose right into his own teacup. It was clearly just the most hilarious thing.

It’s nice to know his sense of humour is alive and well.

Rolling Along

26 04 2005

Almost A Headstand

As you might guess from this photo Finn is working his way to being able to do a forward roll although I seriously doubt that he knows this. He just thinks he is being clever. Tonight he almost managed a proper roll but kind of went sideways at the key moment.

In lots of other ways he is charging along. He is starting to mimic words although strictly at times of his choosing. He is starting to mimic action, again only when it works for him.

While he is not changing much on the outside he sure is developing quickly in terms of what he can do.

Shorty

The Haircut Kid

We went to clip Foozley’s hair this morning but his silly Dad wasn’t paying attention and so it ended up much shorter than anyone had in mind. Especially with his bruises, overalls, and bare feet he looking like a certainly for National Party preselection.

Trying Out Words

24 04 2005

Stuck In the Middle With You

Foozley still has a smallish set of words he uses but he is starting to try out others. Of course he decides what he will copy and mostly it is only once. But it feels like he is close to copying all sorts of words.

Pretty soon now we might wish for the quiet we have now.

Busy Week For The Boy

21 04 2005

With his Dad away at school for the week it has been all go for young Foozley. He was at childcare for the first three days which is the longest run he had ever had. Today his Grandy looked after him which is seems they both enjoyed.

We only saw for a little bit before bed tonight but he did have time to add to his growing finances.

A Penny Saved

Happily we will all get to spend the long weekend together.

The Artist

Joint Efforts

We bought Foozley a chalk and white board easel yesterday and he had his first play with it this morning. His Mum was showing him how it worked but he could on pretty quickly.

Backpacking

I Think The Car Is This Way

Nicky found a Foozley sized backpack which is just perfect for going to childcare with.

Sleepover

14 04 2005

Since my Dad is a massive suck he wants to take my Mum out to do something just a little bit nice on Saturday night and it seems that my toddler antics are not required.

So I am looking for a reliable babysitter who I could perhaps come and have a sleepover with or, failing that, could come and look after me at home.

Applicants should contact my Dad.

18 Months Visit

14 04 2005

Foozley went to see the Maternal Health Nurse today even though he is actually eighteen months old tomorrow. For the metrically minded he is 84cm tall and weights 13.2 kilos.

He was able to do all the things they wanted to see like walking, using a spoon, pointing to his nose (just started that his week), take off shoes and socks and that sort of thing.

All in all the completely charmed the nurse and it all went very well.
