Single Boy Looking For Company

30 03 2005

In April my Dad has to go back to school for a few weeks to learn stuff all five days of the week. My big friends at childcare can look after me on the normal days but this still leaves three whole days I need someone to keep me company.

Now I know that I have many readers and admirers (Mum and Dad told me) and I was wondering if some of them might like to look after me from 8 in the morning (a whole hour before the Koala Brothers), until 5pm (a whole hour after Play School) on the following days;

Monday 18th of April
Thursday 21st of April
Thursday 28th April

Sadly you would need to come and look after me at my place which I know rules some of you out.

Suitable applicants should contact my Mum or Dad.

A Very Good Sign

28 03 2005

Foozley has his way of expressing what he wants as all small kids do. He claps when he is happy or pleased. He puts up his arms when he wants to be picked up. He points to light switches when he wants the light turned on (which is most of the time). He will point to lights to let people know they are there, he is very thoughtful like that.

However we were a little worried about his speech developing. We know it will be slow because of his hearing loss but thought we might help with learning some signs. The ones we got his support service to teach us are for Mum, Dad, cat, dog, on, off, and lights.

We have been trying to work these into daily life now for a couple of weeks. Today he started using the sign for on which was more exciting than I can describe for you here. The sign is a little rough but it’s clear what it is and it is completely in context.

He is a very clever poppet even if somewhat light obsessed.

The Confidence Man

Running Man

Even since Finn has been walking properly he is Mr Confidence. He charged around the house after Cosmo and Zelda like there is no tomorrow. He walked around outside and when he does fall it is straight back onto his feet. Young Foozley used to be very unsteady walking down the slope of the driveway but now it is no problem at all.

Perhaps his best trick is getting off our bed which is quite high. Firstly he turns around and then drops his legs off. Finally he just let’s go and falls a few inches to the ground. Quite often he lands on his feet.

He has also started doing the actions to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which is too cute for words.

The Self Feeding Foozle

Finn has been working up to feeding himself for a while now and has been quite good with handheld things like toast. Last night was the first time he gave himself his whole meal with a spoon which is pretty clever.

The Toast Master

Finn wasn’t interested in eating breakfast yesterday and there was no convincing him otherwise. Come lunchtime he was tempted with cold meats, a tin of baby food, fruit, biscuits and custard. The only thing he actually ate was the biscuits and the made a repeat appearances about two minutes after we started driving him.

So there was a quick stop at the Chaddy carpark which we cleaned a boy and his seat.

We offered him dinner once we were home but that didn’t happen which is fair enough. On the bright side he drank plenty of water, juice and milk through all of this.

Today, as you can see from the photo, he is eating happily again.

Intellectual Boy

The Intellectual

One of the things that Foozley likes is to take his Dad’s glasses and put them on.

The Pain Of Hearing No

18 03 2005

Finn might not hear so well at times but he knows a word he doesn’t like to hear is “no”. His most recent trick is to hit people around the head and when this happens adults say no.

When I popped into childcare Kelly had just had to tell him no on account of him hitting. He reacted as he does which is to howl pitifully and act like no-one loves him.

Hopefully this stage will be over soon. If he is anything like his Faja he will be hearing no a bit from women as the years go by.

All Better Now

Faja And All-Well Kid

The recently recovered Foozley and his Dad.

Little Star

Diana at childcare told me that when she sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with Finn he said twinkle which is just a bit exciting.

Getting There

15 03 2005

Finn is feeling a bit better and certainly well enough for a trip down to St Kilda on a sunny afternoon. He was feeling well enough to stand on tippy toes to see the world.

Tippy Toes

But not well enough to be completely sure footed.

I Am The Dancing Man

But still well enough to manage a good crash landing.
