Foozley and The Birthday Boy

Today we went to cousin Danny’s first birthday party and we all had a lovely time.

Three Needles No Waiting

29 10 2004

This morning Foozley is off for his twelve month immunisations which the Maternal Health Nurse tells me is three injections and a couple of syrups.

This is unlikely to be a lot of laughs for poor Foozley.

Up And Down

28 10 2004

Foozley is getting quite good at bringing himself to his feet against things and then, after a little while, falling down.

All Ears

28 10 2004

When we were sitting down for dinner Foozley turned fully around because he heard the Puppy Deluxe barking which is a first. He then turned back when I called his name.

It certainly seems that less fluid in the ears is doing good things for his hearing. He will still need his aids of course but it’s nice when he reacts to the world around him.

Boohbah

26 10 2004

Foozley’s favourite tv show is Boohbah and he sits and looks very serious when it is on. They have five coloured blobs doing a dance which is ok but it is the story people who really work for Foozley.

They are Grandmama, Grandpapa, Mr Man, Mrs Lady, Auntie, Brother and Sister and Little Dog Fido. I think that Foozley’s favourite person is Mr Man because he often cries when Mr Man leaves the screen.

The stories are short, colourful and simple. As an adult you wouldn’t learn much but they introduce simple concepts with a bit of humour. I think we have about eight episodes on tape and a four on DVD.

Nicky thought that she heard Foozley says “B-b-b” at Boohbah earlier tonight.

The Crawler

24 10 2004

A couple of days after he was ten months old (and had his last video made) Foozley started commando crawling and it really became a whole new game around here. We pretty quickly had to go out and get barriers for the open doors because the world was now Foozley’s oyster.

Commando crawling is still the main method of transportation but real crawling, up on hands and knees, is in the game also. This started out of getting out of a sit and is still used for mainly short distances. But every day the real crawling happens a little bit more. It’s certainly faster and seems easier for him.

He can also pull himself into a kneel against all sorts of things although needs help to get into stand. Once standing he gets forgetful and falls on his bum. He thinks this is a terrible thing but we are trying to assure him that he is good at landing.

The Kid With Terrific Ears

22 10 2004

We know that the Children’s think that Finn’s ears might be clearing up on the fluid side of things and they might well be right. He is certainly a bit more responsive than he usually is.

Today was also a good hearing aid, he managed to have them in for most of an hour while he played which was encouraging.

Mr Cranky Trousers

20 10 2004

Foozley and I went to playgroup but he was all grouchy from the moment he work up from his mornings sleep. Because it was sunny and because it helps distract him from his hearing aids I left his hat on. This may have been a mistake because in all the tugging he only made the scrap dig into his chin.

Lunch was a disaster so he is now back in bed and will hopefully wake up the happy kid we all know and love.

Musical Foozley

20 10 2004

Foozley

This morning Foozley had his hearing aids in so I thought he might enjoying playing with my keyboard that recently came home. After watching me for a minute he started pressing keys with just one finger which was pretty cute.

So then I put it on the floor for him and he discovered his feet could help also. So the file above is what happened (with drums and sitar added).
