Who’s Back There?

Crawler

29 08 2004

This morning Foozley was doing quite the little commando crawl. For those of you not completely obsessed with babies crawling this is where you crawl on your tummy.

Anyhow Nicky built a small tower of blocks which Finn would feel he just had to push down. As so he crawled about two feet to do the job.

Hoorah for the Funster.

Teeth

27 08 2004

A while ago Finn got his 2 centre bottom teeth like most babies do.

After a short break, the 2 centre top teeth made their appearance.

Then things started to speed up. Before the top middle ones were completely through the one immediately to right of them started to come through.

Then a couple of days ago I noticed that the tooth to the left of the bottom middle teeth has broken through the gum.

Foozle now has a very toothy grin indeed.

The best part of it all is that, apart from an escalation in drooling before each tooth’s appearance there has been absolutely no outward sign of what was going on. Further evidence of his lovely, unflappable personality.

The Boy Who Almost Crawls

25 08 2004

Lots of kids around the Funster’s age have started crawling but he likes to take things easy and I think it’s an attitude that does him credit.

But recently he has been making moves towards crawling. Nicky saw him do a little commando crawl on his tummy the other day. He sometimes raises himself to his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. I don’t think it is far away now.

Some Like It Hot

16 08 2004

Finn has started to get a bit picky about eating veggies but his main complaint seems to be cold veggies. It is amazing how quickly they go from Quite Hot to Quite Cold.

So when he really looks like they are horrible the go back into the microwave for ten seconds and generally the Funster finds all new enthusiasm for it.

Fruit, on the other hand, seems to be fine no matter how cold it gets. I have not tried it straight from the fridge but I suspect it would get eaten all the same.

The New Kid

16 08 2004

Today Foozley was the new kid at the child care centre. We were a little worried that he might choose today to experience seperation anxiety but he had no such thoughts. He just sat down and looked and who he might play with. It was much harder on us that it was on him.

When I picked him up they said he has been happy all day and slept well.

Finn is the perfect new kid.

Ten Months Today

15 08 2004

It seems like only last week that the Funster arrived, squinted at us, and was all red but it has been ten months to the day.

Now he is sitting well and can fall over quite gracefully. Getting into a sit, however, is still beyond him. He loves the be held in a standing postion and can hold his weight for a half minute or so. His prefered mode of movement is rolling around and can cover quite some ground that way. Some people think he might skip crawling and go straight to walking but I think crawling is only a month or so away.

The Funster eats three meals at day and has three bottles of formula. He will eat veggies but prefers mushed fruit any day of the week. He quite likes his breakfast too which consists of baby muesli, fruit and yoghurt. On a good day he will eat some toast but seems quite resistent to actual bits of fruit.

He has a wide range of noises he makes and is starting to mimic the tones we use for particular things. Sometimes he will wave at people and sometimes not so much. He still does happy dances although less often.

His hearing went downhill when he had a cold but it now pretty much back to normal for him and it’s lovely to have him react to being talked to again. He still needs his hearing aids but is much too fond of them as sweets for that to work well at the moment.

He has just finished up at one childcare centre (who were really good) and starts tomorrow at a new one about a minute from home. Hopefully they will be every bit as good.

Finn’s favourite things include watching Boohbah on telly, squealing (which is quite piercing), banging things together, pulling Nicky’s hair, grabbing jewellery that is around people’s necks, touching people’s teeth, grabbing EmmyLou, watching his pusscat friends, rolling over to visit his dog friends on their beds and is fascinated by guitars.

His hair is getting quite thick and perhaps he will need a haircut soon.

And all in all he is every bit as lovely as he has always been.

New Chair

Lounging Around

This is Finn’s new chair and him giving himself his bottle all by himself. He has held it a bit before but like this is a first.

Gummy Eyed Kid

13 08 2004

Yesterday the Funster had to come home from childcare on account of having conjunctivitis. They thought he had it months ago but it was blocked tear ducts instead. This time, however, they were spectacularly correct and conjunctivitis is much worse than blocked ducts. His eyes are quite red and sore and he doesn’t like having his drops one little bit.

But in a couple of days he was be all better, bright eyes and beautiful.
