All Night Long

22 06 2004

Nicky had the thought that the Funster didn’t need his night-time bottle and thought we should try to comfort him back to sleep. I was willing to give it a go but, if truth be told, when you are awake in the dead of night you tend to believe in what you know will work (like a bottle).

But we gave it a go all the same.

And it worked. He now goes from 7pm to 7am without a bottle and sleeps most of the time. He wakes and cries when he hits his head on the bars of the cot or loses his dummy but goes back to sleep quickly enough.

Thank Trevor for Nicky and her level head.

Anytime after 6 months you cut out that feed.
Although it is often hard to make that choice when you are getting NO sleep!

we knew you could drop it in theory but even with the ten o’clock bottle he was waking up at 4. Without it he woke up at 1. The trick for me was trusting that something other than a bottle would send him to sleep.

I am *hugely* excited to hear this! This calls for a small drink on the back verandah when you come over here, while everyone concerned puts their feet up. Hooray for sleep!
