School Holiday Programme

July 2nd, 2009 by Mark

I think Finn might have been a bit nervous about going to his school holiday programme today. On the way, he seemed quite upset when he realised that I wouldn’t be staying with him all day. His argument was that we could miss his Dad too much, but I suspect he was just nervous about doing something new on his own.

He need not have worried. When we picked him up this afternoon at three, he was there with his whole little gang. They had been watching movies and playing secret agents. In fact, he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay until all the other mums arrived.

We promised him that week he could stay until five o’clock and this news made him a bit happier. The great news, of course, is that he had such a great day.

Together with Finn, we made this little practice pack for learning the letter me. It doesn’t work quite so well without the animations but you’ll get the idea.

On The Train

May 17th, 2009 by Mark

It’s lovely to be on a train but how fun is it there? It’s lovely to be in the rain. But lovelier to be in a train. Under the tunnels.

We went on a train that was little and we chugged. There was something wrong on the tracks with Toby. In other news, I got a Bionoacle. And we even change the place that the laser goes. And the spiky ball.

Transformers

May 3rd, 2009 by Mark

In the last month, the Transformers have become Finn’s absolutely favourite thing. I am even sure what sparked this obsession but it’s in full slight now.

He especially loves Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee and has small toy version of each. Bumble Bee is so popular with Leila that we got her one of those of her own as well.

As luck would have it, our library has a few DVDs of the Transformer cartoon and watching these has become Finn’s favourite thing to do at home. The disc themselves are pretty clobbered so they just pause for thirty seconds now and then. This throws Finn a bit but he waits pretty patiently and then the violence and silliness continues.

We even watched the live action film yesterday. We were a little worried that he would either be scared, bored, or both. Our worries we for nothing; he was delighted.

Transformers are, at least for little boys, more than meets the eye.
